Winter’s almost here, but that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped thinking about summerfruit!

To encourage new, healthy fruit to grow next summer, we prune our stonefruit trees once they’ve finished fruiting (usually around winter, when the trees are dormant).

Winter pruning also allows us to shape the trees into a vase shape, creating space inside which lets in light and air.  This reduces the trees’ risk of disease and pests, and helps control tree height to make it easier for picking during the fruit season.
