Behind every piece of Yummy fruit is a lot of effort…. and a little bit of luck, but only in the form of Mother Nature.
In early October 2019 she dealt a pretty tough hand and Hawkes Bay was hit with a HUGE hailstorm, widespread throughout the region. In 45 years of growing Yummy stonefruit, John Paynter cannot remember a hail event this early in the season and at such an important time.
Some of our little fruitlets came through without a scratch, but many were not so lucky and have been left a little battle scarred. Here at Yummy, we hate to see good fruit go to waste and although they may look a little different, our stonefruit is still full of that Yummy™ flavour we all know and love.
So, we’re introducing you to our very own Hailstone Heroes. They have literally weathered the storm and earned their title. They are available now at New World, Pak’nSave, Four Square supermarkets & all good independent retailers. We encourage you to Keep Summer Yummy™ and support our little battlers, the Hailstone Heroes this season.
