We are headed into spring, an optimistic time of year with loads of exciting things to look forward to. But while the evenings still hold a little chill in the air, there’s no reason we can’t keep up with some of the very best cozy aspects of winter. Specifically, a warm decadent treat to end an evening.

Few things are more winter-coded than a simple apple crumble. Individual servings are entirely unnecessary, but they add a little special something when presenting someone with a dessert all for themself.

You’ll need:

Apple component:

1 Tablespoon melted butter
2 large Yummy apples, diced in 1-2cm chunks. (We recommend Yummy Granny Smiths, however a SweeTango or even a Yummy Lemonade apple!)
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
A sprinkle of ground cinnamon

Topping:

100g plain flour

50g melted butter
1/2 Cup of brown sugar
1/3 Cup Oats
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 180deg C. Chop your Yummy apples into small chunks (to keep some bite). Grease ramekins, with melted butter. In a bowl mix together brown sugar with the chopped apples and sprinkle with cinnamon.

In a separate bowl, make the crumble, mix flour, oats, brown sugar and cinnamon, then stir through melted butter but be sure not to make mixture too soupy. Keep some chunks as this texture adds some crunch to the final product.

Bake for 3o mins, check colour and cook for a further few minutes if you want them a little more golden. Remove, let rest and then serve with vanilla ice cream, this step is imperative, not optional. Buon appetit!
